  • In March many safes were either stolen from the premise or were opened with a grinder.
  • In March many break ins occurred whilst people had not armed their alarm, ensure to arm your alarm every night. If it is malfunctioning, please call for our technicians to come and assist.
  • Avoid offering lifts to strangers especially in busy areas and on the outskirts of town.
  • Do not park outside any residence or premise when possible. Do not leave valuables in the car, ensure all windows are closed and the vehicle is locked when left unattended and whilst driving.
  • Drive with doors locked and windows rolled most of the way up. When entering or exiting the premise, residents should avoid waiting outside the premise for too long. Rather, have the gate remote ready of call someone to open the gate as you approach the premise.
  • Do not underestimate strangers, criminals involve women and senior citizens to scout an area as most people would not be suspicious of them.
  • Avoid walking or jogging alone late at night or in the evening. Rather, walk in groups or pairs.

Outlook

The theft of vehicles is likely to remain an issue unless significant arrests are made. Motorists are urged to be vigilant and drive with their doors locked regardless of the time. Manned parking lots are also safer to park in and motorists should avoid leaving their vehicles unlocked or with goods on the seats.

As the Easter holidays approach, we encourage that those residents who are travelling speak to their neighbours and local Neighbourhood Watch groups and inform them that they are away so that neighbours can be wary of suspicious noises and people near other’s houses. We encourage the use of the panic button if you are suspicious of any activity in your area. If you are travelling during the Easter period ensure a panic button is left with the caretaker, domestic worker or guard on site.

Thank you for using Safeguard.
