Crime overall has decreased significantly, and as more businesses adopt good security practices criminals are turning to residential properties that present a weak security presence.
17 th August 2024 begins the 44 th Ordinary Summit of SADC Heads of State and Government meeting in Harare Zimbabwe. This will be held at the New Parliament building according to the SADC website. During this time, it is suspected to see areas of congested traffic, and roadblocks set in place.
GENERAL ADVISORY
Our advice to residents is to be aware of the areas around Rainbow towers, HICC, New Parliament, Heroes acre, University of Zimbabwe, and Geo Pomona. If you see any convoys promptly get off the road, and do not take pictures of any personnel, vehicle movement, or sites for the meetings and events. OVERVIEW
- Criminal incidents have decreased 19.48% since June. All provinces except Bulawayo and Masvingo have experienced less crime since June.
- 33.8% of all incidents targeted residential premises. This is an increase of 1.8% from June.
- Most criminal activity reported is between 1700 – 0500hrs.
- Weak perimeters are the primary concern, and properties with security systems not activated or maintained.
- 38.7% of incidents in July resulted in a loss of property which correlates to 0.001% of Safeguard clients experiencing a loss of property on site for the month of July.
- Most clients who have experienced loss of property but utilized alarm systems and rapid response services have seen minimal loss of property.
- Armed robberies have decreased since June.
- The use of firearms remains a constant around those incidents targeting cash.
