Safeguard Security is working with the police to reduce crime in Mutare, following an increase in the number of armed robberies in the city centre and in the city’s residential and industrial areas.

In a report to customers on break-ins, Safeguard said the police in Mutare had set up a response team to attend to all panic button signals received by Safeguard.

“Safeguard is working hand-in-hand with the Zimbabwe Republic Police in reducing crime. The police have set up a response team which will attend to all panic signals received.

“On receiving any panic signal, Safeguard will dispatch its response team and advise the Zimbabwe Republic Police, who as well will dispatch their response team,” the bulletin said.

It said a spate of incidents had been reported in Mutare over the last month. The police had placed a vehicle on standby.

“We are in close communication with them and receiving good support,” Safeguard said.

The security company urged people to be security conscious and lock up early.
