Safeguard Employee Tests Positive for COVID 19

For the past three months, Safeguard has screened an average of more than 2000 employees each day.

This screening involves a temperature check and a symptoms questionnaire, the results of which are gathered in a central database.

On Thursday 16th July 2020, this screening process highlighted two security guards that presented with some of the warning symptoms for COVID 19. These guards were immediately isolated from all other individuals until they could be tested the following day.

On Friday 17 July, PCR tests were conducted on the two employees and the results obtained the following day showed that one of them had tested positive for the virus.

The Ministry of Health, City of Harare Health Department and the client were informed of this development.

The employee was taken home and is currently self-isolating with her family whose health status is also being monitored.

Prior to the test results being known, Safeguard’s COVID Mitigation Team had prepared contract tracing lists for all known contacts of the persons being tested. This contact tracing has been carried out and where individuals have been exposed, they have been asked to self-isolate while their condition is monitored.

For the past three months, Safeguard has been implementing a detailed set of COVID mitigation protocols which are available for viewing on our Website.

We remain committed to taking all steps possible to ensuring the well-being of our employees, our clients and our community at large, and are working with our customers to ensure that we all operate in as safe an environment as possible.
